Faux Finishes - a play with paint to imitate the rare, hard to find, heavy and costly materials. Faux Finishes can be painted to represent marble, wood, parchment, semiprecious stone, ivory, stone, brick, limestone, sandstone, and leather. Gilding - the craft of applying a thin layer of metal to a surface. Metals used in gilding are palladium, gold, silver, composition gold, copper, and aluminium. Trompe l'oeil - a French phrase meaning "fool the eye." This painting technique is used to render three-dimensional architectural elements like moldings, columns, and ornaments. Fantasy Finishes - meant to delight the beholder at once with their similarity and their departure from the real and used when custom colors are of utmost importance helping to unify a room. Murals - from colorful, contemporary, abstract paintings to traditional landscape designs, murals add value to any home's interior.
